Can I run Thunderbird on a PowerPC Mac running 10.5.8?

I have a PowerPC Mac running 10.5.8. I've used Eudora for over a decade, but it's very antique, and apparently RoadRunner just did some security updates, so now I can receive but not send.

Thunderbird's System Requirement page says it should run on my computer, but when I download it I get "You cannot use this version of the application Thunderbird with this version of Mac OS X."

Am I doing something wrong, or is the system requirement page incorrect?

Tenfourbird is unofficial build of Mozilla Thunderbird for PowerPC based Mac OS X.
