I am having a problem with "Save to Sent" after composing and sending a message.

If I try to save to the sent folder on Imap, it just hangs and hangs and hangs and eventually says it was unsuccessful, would you like to try again, it just hangs, hangs, hangs ... eventually I simply have to cancel.

If I save to the sent folder on Local, it is not a problem at all.

Please do not tell me to compact, or any of those things. That is not the problem.

It looks like it is some kind of handshake with the imap server ...

and I have seen this behavior on many PC's, with different isp carriers, with different mail server providers.

What is happening is that Thunderbird is trying to re-log in , re-connect to the mail server prior to saving to sent.

MANY MANY people have been reporting this problem and it does not seem to be taken seriously. People keep giving the "compact" your folder, check your imap and smtp settings (!!) etc., etc.

Soimething changed in Thunderbird and this is happening a lot more.

But it has happened all along. A google search shows this problem being reported for years.

If you know what the cause is, then please explain it. If you do not, then be prepared to follow standard diagnostic processes.

Personally I am off, file a bug. One of the developers might be interested enough but expect that they will not accept things on face value either. Your assertion is not enough.
