Thunderbird loads slowly and I have to wait a minute or so before the Get Messages to work. How do I use the Safe Mode to fix the problem?

What is your anti-virus software?
I use Norton AV . I also use a spam filter (Spamihilator 1.5.0. Never had any problems with it, and it works great) but that doesn't start until I press the Get Messages button.

Try to start *Windows* in safe mode with networking enabled.

Still in Windows safe mode, start Thunderbird in safe mode.
