Latest update screwed up my profile add-ons toolbars, etc. WTF?
I accepted your latest update for OSx last night. When it competed, my whole Firefox profile was changed: Add-ons gone Preferences changed Customized toolbars stripped to basic Extensions etc., menus, search engines, other toolbar stuff ...
ALL GONE!!! WTF??
HOW CAN YOUR SOFTWARE SCREW ITSELF UP AND AS A RESULT SCREW UP THE USER'S INVESTMENT IN BUILDING THE FIREFOX SETUP? AND NOW I HAVE TO TAKE MY TIME TO FIGURE OUT HOW TOO FIX IT??? I HATE WASTING TIME WHEN YOU (AND OTHER SOFTWARE PROVIDERS) DESTROY THE INVESTMENT WE HAVE ALREADY MADE AND BECAUSE OF YOUR UNILATERAL LANDMINES INCLUDED IN "UPDATES", WE USERS HAVE A BIG F*CKING HEADACHE TO TRY TO GET BACK TO FUNCTIONING AS FROM BEFORE THE "UPDATE" .... GEEZ ... ARE YOU TRYING TO HELP US OR HURT US?? IF IT'S THE LATTER, JUST LET ME KNOW SO I DON'T WASTE ANY MORE TIME AND WILL GO USE CHROME OR SAFARI OR ANY OTHER BROWSER NOT "UPDATED" SO AS TO SABOTAGE ME AND OTHER USERS.
SOMEONE THERE PLEASE RESPOND ASAP. THANK YOU.

During your upgrade, do you recall using Firefox's Refresh feature? This can happen when Firefox starts up slowly and says in order to make it less sluggish you can refresh/restore the browser. The best indication is that an Old Firefox Data folder appears on your desktop.
Do you find anything like that? If so, you can use the contents of that folder to "undo" the refresh. There are many steps, which I've detailed for Windows here: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1052279#answer-704281 Unfortunately, I'm not as familiar with Mac (I mean, it would be Finder instead of Windows Explorer, but for some of the other details you may need more specific guidance).
You can check if you haven't switched from your previous Firefox profile folder to a new Firefox profile folder.

THANK YOU FOR THE RESPONSES THUS FAR ... I DO HAVE THE "OLD FIREFOX DATA" FOLDER ON MY DESKTOP, BUT I EXPECT SOMEONE FROM FIREFOX TO CONTACT ME AND ADVISE ME EXPLICITLY HOW TO FIX THIS IN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES (GENEROUS!) ... I'M NOT GOING TO ONE MORE LINK OR READING ONE MORE HELP SUPPORT COMMENT. I EXPECT THE SOFTWARE COMPANY THAT F*CKS WITH ITS CUSTOMERS TO DEAL WITH THE CONSEQUENCES. THAT'S THEIR JOB ... NOT MINE. I HAVE ANOTHER JOB AND DON'T EXPECT MY CLIENTS/CUSTOMERS TO DO IT FOR ME OR FIX IT BECAUSE I SCREWED THEM. SOFTWARE COMPANIES DON'T SEEM TO GET IT THAT THE REST OF THE PRODUCT/SERVICES ECONOMY DOES NOT WORK LIKE THEIR PRIMA DONNA, HIPSTER INDUSTRY. IT'S NOT OKAY TO DELIVER PRODUCTS/SERVICES THAT ARE FLAWED, GLICHED, MALFUNCTIONING, ETC. IT'S JUST NOT OKAY IN ANY OTHER BUSINESS IN KNOW OF, AND IT'S CERTAINLY NOT OKAY -- IF SUCH PRODUCT/SERVICE MALFUNCTIONS EXIST -- TO EXPECT THE CUSTOMERS TO TAKE THEIR TIME OUT OF THEIR JOBS TO FIX THEM. TO FIREFOX, GOOGLE, APPLE, AMAZON, EVERNOTE, AND THOUSANDS OF SMALLER SOFTWARE/SAS COMPANIES: WHAT ARE YOU THINKING??? STOP PLAYING PING-PONG AND VIDEO GAMES AND START TAKING CARE OF YOUR BUSINESS!!! YOUR BEHAVIOR IN THE MARKETPLACE IS AS IF YOU ARE ALL 22 YEARS OLD AND THINK YOU'RE THE RAT'S ASS IN THE "TECH"/BUSINESS ARENA. I'D LAUGH BUT IT'S TOO PATHETIC.
FIREFOX, CONTACT ME -- A LOYAL CUSTOMER FOR MANY YEARS -- AND FIX THE PROBLEM YOU CREATED ... YOU'RE ACCOUNTABLE ... PERIOD.

This forum is staffed by volunteers who love Firefox and take time away from friends, family and fun to help other users. Or for me, right now, time away from going home for dinner. So you could stop shouting at us now.
My comments are not directed at you ... as I said, I appreciate your earlier prompt response.
The simple question is: Does Mozilla/Firefox intend to be competitive in the browser marketplace?
Well then, make a competitive product and don't screw with your loyal customers.
If Mozilla can't be competitive based upon yours and others volunteer efforts -- as well-meaning and appreciated as they may be -- then Mozilla should go out and get some (very abundant) capital and proceed as a corporate, for profit company.
Sorry for the biz school 101, but either I'm missing something or the road map is clear. In the meantime, I'm a customer and I'm pissed. Don't I as a customer have the right to get pissed?

p.s. I didn't realize this forum is about censoring its various contributors.
If you don't like what I have to say on this forum, don't read it. That way you can get home to dinner sooner.
But how dare you tell a 10+ year user what he can or cannot say about it ... geez.

How dare you shout at the people that you are asking for support!
As far as you question - "Does Mozilla/Firefox intend to be competitive in the browser marketplace?"
Firefox has been competitive in the browser marketplace for many years, and chances are it will continue to be competitive.
As far as a commercial, for profit version of a web browser based upon the Gecko engine, that is possible for anyone who wants to do it. See this - the 2nd paragraph - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gecko_%28software%29#Usage - for other web browsers using the Firefox base code.
ok, I'll say it again ... if you don't like the content of my posts, then don't read it.
What part of that don't you understand? duh.
Do you think Google and Apple and Microsoft use the expression: "chances are, it will continue to be competitive"? I can assure you the competition is not leaving things to chance. If Mozilla keeps screwing up data for its customers as a result of its brilliant "upgrades" (abundant with "fixes" after all these years of success), chances aren't that it will continue to be successful.
After all of my "shouting", I'll spoon feed you the answer: my prior sentence has been the point of all my comments here ... again, duh.
Ok, I'll go elsewhere for help vs. censoring. And it won't be comprised of getting sent a bunch of links where this is still my problem to solve.
Bye folks.
p.s. to all those so offended by my "shouting", get a backbone -- you'll need it.
