One of my accounts will not send deleted emails to trash folder

I had to reinstall tbird...added my 2 gmail accounts as previously. One works well...deleted messages go to trash. The second one doesn't and they are gone! when I click 'delete' they are nowhere found, despite the option to send deleted emails to trash in that account. Please help asap. Until then, I am afraid to delete anything in that account

right click the account in the folder pane and select settings. in server settings select the advanced button.

enter [Gmail] as the imap server directory and save the change. Restart Thunderbird.

Your entire folder structure/appearance should change to the gmail folders
