after upgrading thunderbird. I can no longer get anything to work, i cannot view my email, i cannot view my address book, etc

I upgraded thunderbird and now i am unable to do anything, the only thing that i can do is open the program. I can't open any of my folders, i can't write, I can't view my address book

Start Thunderbird in safe mode, uninstall Lightning, restart. Reinstall Lightning if required.
