I do not have a Tools or Help tab in my thunderbird. How do i fix this?

My ISP recently helped me down load thunderbird because I was having severe problems with the Microsoft rubbish. My problem with Tbird is that the trash emails are not being sent to my junk box. I have gone on line to find a solution. All the solutions require you to open the Tools tab. I don't have one!!! Nor do I have a help tab which everyone else seems to have!!! Please help!!!
