How to I add Bing as a search engine option?
Hello,
How do I add Bing as an additional option? I tried going into the options tab...and I see Bing is listed.
However, what do I do next?
I don't see a tab or button anywhere that says "add" or something similar. It just sits there.
I already have Duck Duck Go as my default ( I do not want to change that; it is fine as is) and I also have Google as an additional search engine in my list.
Now I simply want to add Bing as a third 'one click' option as well. One of my friends has Bing and it works really well. My Firefox version is up to date (48).
Thank you, Randy

Hi Randy !
I took a look at your screenshots and it's just like I thought:
Both Google and 'Donald Duck' have this check mark in front of their name; now, you probably don't think it's possible, but you can put a check mark in front of Bing :
Just put your pointer there and click ......... go ahead and try it !
If that doesn't work I wouldn't blame you for getting really mad at me !
And then, of course, I can only hope that somebody else will come to your rescue ........
Good luck !

Hi !
You're right; there is no tab or button:
All you have to do to add or remove a search engine is to 'check' it or 'un-check' it.
Good luck !
Hi -
Thank you for your assistance the other day! Unfortunately, this is not giving me the option of checking or unchecking. I have attached a screenshot. I can't check anything - right click or left click nothing happens. Google and Duck Duck Go are checked from way back when - several years ago and many versions ago.
I still wish to keep Google and Duck Duck Go just as is - but would simply like to add Bing as that third option.
Thanks again! Randy

Hi Happy112 -
Remember me from last month with adding Bing as a search engine? Guess what...it finally worked and it was just as easy as you said!
The issue was that I had to click to the far left of the word "Bing" - and not on the word "Bing" itself. The check mark is in a separate field, but is not obvious since there is no button or check box of any kind to the left.
So just clicking here and clicking there - and I finally clicked in the right place!
So it's all set now....and i appreciate your help.
I have another question that I may have to post - I've been getting this message that says something to the effect that Shockwave Flash is not responding, and freezes the page and the browser. Should I just go into add-ons and change it to "Ask to Activate" Or do something else?
Thanks again for your help with the search engine question.
Randy
Hi Randy, I'll jump in on the Adobe Flash question.
(1) I prefer Ask to Activate since then I don't waste time loading Flash when I am not interested in it.
(2) Do either of these articles help with the not responding when it happens?
Hello -
Thanks for your help with that. I changed it to Ask to Activate and it seems to work fine now. On some websites (such as the radar loop on the site of the National Weather Service), I just click 'to allow and to remember'.
In the meantime, I will read both articles that you referenced. I didn't realize that Adobe Flash and Shockwave Flash were both related. Probably Java also.
I will review the articles over this weekend.
Thanks again for your assistance.
Randy
