It just started. When I open firefox (my preferred browser) my home page of bing.com keeps blinking or flashing. In chrome it does not.

For the longest time, the Bing home page displayed a running video or other animation in Chrome, but a static image in Firefox. I see today a video of a waterfall, and it's making my fan run so it may be consuming a lot of resources. Possibly your Firefox is not able to handle this video smoothly.

Could you experiment with the following settings:

http://www.bing.com/account/general?FORM=O2HV46&ru=http%3a%2f%2fwww.bing.com%2f

Scroll down to the HOMEPAGE section and under "Videos and panoramas" try the bubble for "Don't play automatically". Then Save that and see whether it helps.

Meanwhile, there might be a useful update available for your Intel graphics drivers. This article suggests safe ways to check for that (i.e., not random search results which can lead to malware): Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL.
