Been using Thunderbird for quite a while. Out of the blue notice that all the accounts associated with AOL are constantly asking me for the account password if I should close Thunderbird then re-open it. I enter the password and checkmark Password Manager, but persists on asking for the password every time Thunderbird is reopened. Have other accounts such as gmail, etc. within the program and not having issues with anything but AOL.

Go to Tools|Options|Security|Passwords→Saved Passwords and check you have only one password stored for this account.

To be on the safe side, you could delete all the entries relating to this account (you normally would have at least two, one for incoming and one for outgoing), run Thunderbird and enter your current password when prompted.

I am not up to speed with AOL. Have they recently changed anything, such as introducing application-specific passwords, OAuth2, two-factor authentication, etc?

Sorry it took a while to reply. Tried things outlined above. No change. Been on AOL recently to see if maybe the password had changed but it had not and it was not asking for anything extra as far as 2-factor authentication.
