I have several email accounts on multiple servers that need to be kept exclusive, and NOT loaded into one single user. Outlook express has been doing this fine but I would like to do it in Linux and get rid of the Windoze once and for all.

samples:

name1@server1.com name2@server1.com name1@server2.com name1@server3.com name1@server4.com name2@server4.com

Each one needs to load in its own access windows as some are business and some are personal.

I don't know what you mean by "load in it own access windows" but Thunderbird inherently treats each account as separate, each with its own Inbox, Sent, Trash and Junk folders. And of course you may define your own subfolders.

Oddly, a significant number of users come to Thunderbird and ask for the opposite. They are accustomed to Outlook Express having merged all their correspondence into a common set of folders and want to know if this is possible in Thunderbird too. It is, but it is not the default.

You can also force Thunderbird to work with two or more instances, using separate profiles, but I've always considered that to be too much hassle. My own approach is to use add-ons which help me check that I am using an appropriate account or identity when writing a message.

How do you force separate instances? I have not found this option.
