During composition with Write, issuing Ctl-Shift-Enter (= send later) should, when mail.warn_on_send_accel_key is true, result in a warning dialog.

I am not getting the warning. The message seems to go silently to Outbox as per:

I think that when mail.warn_on_send_accel_key is true (the default), a warning dialog appears on Ctrl+Enter, i.e. Send, not Send Later. This makes sense, as sending is generally irreversible, whereas sending later just places the message in the Local Folders Outbox.

Fair point.

Still, the difficulty faced by the author of the question I linked, and my own, indicate the behaviour is poorly documented.

The "keyboard-shortcuts" page, and more importantly the UI itself (via tool tips, msg in bottom status area, etc) do not help user know how to undo "Send Later".

Sending later and the Outbox are fully documented here:

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Outbox

and it is explained how Outbox messages can be moved to other folders, Drafts etc., edited as new, or deleted.

TB's help does not link to that site.

And how easily could a newbie reach that page when the TB UI does not hint that Outbox is "a thing"?

An org aspiring towards high usability should not be satisfied with "the answer is somewhere on the internet".
