my bookmarks and bookmark folders do not show when I click on the bookmark logo since the update. I have to view all bookmarks to see them now, Why is this?

in order to see my subfolders and other bookmarks like I did before the update, I have to select the bookmark icon at the top right, then select bookmarks at the top, then select show all bookmarks at the bottom of the drop down menu, and then a new window opens where all my bookmarks and subfolders are. I used to just have to select the bookmark logo so this seems very clunky and troublesome. I am left keeping an separate window open for my bookmarks now. Why are my bookmarks easy to access anymore?
