With the update to 57, I cannot sign in to Firefox. All sign in info is wrong according to the attempts to sign in, and I am not able to get the ability to change the password no matter how many times I try....the email from Firefox does not come through to my mailbox.

The only way to reset the account is to resend the info to the registered email that you started for account that would be the first part to do to insure they have the correct registered email account to send your update information to. Otherwise if it doesn't work then it will be up to the site to figure out how to verify your information to give you access.

In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.

I have all my names and passwords stored in a password manager (LastPass), so they don't get lost. Any changes to a password are automatically stored and I can access the history of passwords at any time. Also I have most of them in a not very secure binder because it could be stolen I suppose. I am having all kinds of problems with the new version (57.0.1) of Firefox and this is just one of them. I am not having the same issues with Chrome or Safari, so it is obviously a Firefox issue. I'm glad you are not experiencing these issues.

Another issue I am having is if I fill in a web based form and send it, the recipient does not receive it from Firefox. It works fine in Chrome and Safari. This has happened on several different sites including the county's emergency notification site. I have asked if this might be a settings issue, but have not had any response to that.

Sorry your suggestions are not the answer. I wish it were that simple.

Another issue I am having is

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Make sure you allow cookies for the accounts.firefox.com domain if you aren't allowing cookies generally or use extensions that deal with cookies.

In case of issues with Sync you can try this:

Disconnect from Sync and Reconnect to Sync again. You can disconnect from Sync by clicking the e-mail address in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list or go to "Options/Preferences > Sync".

Delete the signedInUser.json file in the Firefox profile folder and delete the Weave folder (Sync was formerly named Weave).

Remove an existing chrome://FirefoxAccounts entry in the Firefox Password Manager.

If that isn't enough then delete the prefs.js files to reset all prefs and maybe also delete the compatibility.ini file to reinitialize the profile.

Delete and re-create the Firefox account or change the Sync password.

Note that changing the Sync password will wipe all data stored on the Sync server.

Can you log in to the Sync account via this page?

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
