I no longer get email coming into the Inbox but can find an email if I know it's there and I search for it.

I have 2 email addresses and have no problem with one of them. Yesterday, while using the other, I was opening attachments from a message and when I returned to the message to open the next attachment, there was nothing in my Inbox. All messages had disappeared. When I searched for the particular sender, I got all of the messages from him and when I went to show them in a list, I got all of the messages that should have been in the Inbox. This listed all of the messages for both email addresses. But the screen showing them didn't have the folders that are normally on the left side.

How do I get back my Inbox and the messages that are there?

You say the folders are missing, But do you see the mail account name? Is this an imap mail account? If yes, you can see the mail account name, right click on it and select 'Subscribe' Select the folders and click on 'Subscribe' click on OK
