Got an error message "invalid RTMP url" How do I fix this?
Ever since the last Firefox update, (a few days ago), there are some sites that I have been visiting for years that no longer work. Several give 404 messages, and one gives me "invalid RTMP url" message. What is it and how do I fix it.

The RTMP message is about an issue when displaying streams provided by Flowplayer on websites that should be played by Flash or internally in browsers.
Given that your Flash setup is outdated (a security issue), first uninstall Flash from the Add/Remove Programs panel on Windows. Then see if you can play a video in Firefox (restart it first) from one of the websites that gave the error. Then (and only if you really need it) reinstall Flash from here and do the same.
Also check the Flash settings in Firefox’s Add-ons > Plugins and make sure Enable Flash protected mode is ticked. (This is similar to the dom.ipc.plugins.flash.disable-protected-mode preference in about:config being set to false.)
If that doesn’t help, have a look at this page for more info. It also contains a link to a test video that all of us could use to troubleshoot your issue, or name another link that still causes issues for you.
Last but not least: add-ons like Privacy Badger may be able to block certain content or streams and hence could be responsible. That would become clear when you start Firefox in Safe Mode as suggested, or by manually disabling that add-on only. You could do the same for other add-ons if this does not help, such as the Avast Online Security add-on.

404 is from the site not a Browser problem. So what are the site assuming they are not login sites.
I've gotten lots of 404's over the years and am familiar with them.
What is the RTMP message - never saw that one before.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Problem solved. I re-loaded Flash and now it all works. Thanks.
