Ver 62.0.3 (64bit) in Windows 7 64 bit installs in c:\program files\ not c:\program files x86\ why?
Did a clean uninstall of Firefox as a part of troubleshooting a very infrequent outgoing blocked trojan (malwarebytes) popup from C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe
New install (Firefox Setup 62.0.3.exe) of Firefox is 64bit , but is installed in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\ directory
I thought (X86) directory was for 64 bit as was the previous installation. Verified the version from the help about menu...62.0.3 (64-bit)
Is this by design, and why? Is there something I must do to "force" installation into X86 directory? Thanks

hi, it's the other way round - the "Program Files (x86)" is for 32bit applications, the "Program Files" folder for 64bit programs.
when you perform an update to firefox 64bit from an already existing 32bit firefox installed in the Program Files (x86) folder, the 64bit version will keep using that folder in order to avoid problems like reset default browsers and similar. if you install 64bit freshly on a system it will go into the "Program Files" folder though, so what you're describing is the intended situation.
