Upgraded Thunderbird yesterday because it said I should. But noticed today that new messages do not have Open Message in Conversation.

The only add-on I have is Lightning. Disabled it and restarted thunderbird, no joy.

Actually found this prior solution: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/992811#answer-551695

Turns out it was the "Reset toolbars and controls" in addition to "disable all addons" and TWO restarts of Thunderbird that resolved it. Then re-enabled Lightning and all is well.
