Data in the assigned profile are not being accessed
I recently got a new iMac running Catalina and moved the Firefox profile I had on a hard drive backup to the appropriate folder on the new iMac and assigned that profile to Firefox, which is not using the logins, extensions, or themes recorded in that profile. I had FF import the bookmarks from the backup folder that FF creates and so recovered those. The question is, why is the info in the assigned profile not being used?

It's possible that your data is accessible in a different profile:
Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it. The About Profiles page will open. This page should list at least one profile and could list many.
The profile that Firefox is currently using will show:
This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted.
Please do not delete anything here; don't use any Remove buttons.
Do you have another profile named default or default-longnumber listed on this page? If so, you can check if it has your old data by clicking its Launch profile in new browser button.
If it isn't what you want, simply close that new window.
If it IS what you want, click the Set as default profile button for that profile on the about:profiles page. Firefox will use it automatically at the next startup.
Make sure to try all of the profiles listed, and report back to us if you still can't find your old data.
Is that profile listed in profiles.ini ?
Firefox uses two locations for the Firefox profile folder, so make sure to look in the correct location.
Location used for the main profile that keeps your personal data (Root Directory on about:profiles).
- C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\
Location used for the disk cache and other temporary files (Local Directory on about:profiles).
- ~/Library/Caches/Firefox/Profiles/
