Hi!

In my firefox 105.0.3 I am logged in to my Office365 Outlook webmail. I have also configured firefox to handle mailto so that it opens outlook.office.com webmail. When I click a mailto link on a homepage it opens up a new mail to compose but in the same tab. So my question is, is it possible to make firefox open the compose page in a new tab?

Thanks

Regards Jonas

mailto is a Windows O/S function and your best to post such configuration to a Windows help forum to help with mailto options setup.

Otherwise you need to check on Firefox Browser setup for new tab options.

Hi Jonas, that does seem to be a flaw in how Firefox is designed. There is an old bug report on file about this, so I mentioned this thread there (590993).

For now, I suggest either Ctrl+clicking or middle-clicking the link with the mouse scroll wheel to direct it to open in a new tab. Alternately, there might be an add-on that modifies mailto link to open in a new tab automatically, but since it would need access to everything you browse, you might not want to use it.
