Firefox apparently doesn't start from the icon, but it says it is active when the computer is shut down.

Apparently Firefox is running, but I can't see any evidence of this on the screen. When I reboot the computer, usually I can call up and use Firefox as usual. This is quite a nuisance, as it happens several times an hour. No notification of a crash is provided, ever.
