When i dont know a website with a specific topic I type a sentence and hit return and then a Google search result page opens. Since Firefox 4 instead of Google, Yahoo Search results are shown. How do I get rid of Yahoo and get Google back?

To get the Firefox 3.6 behaviour on Firefox 4 you need to change a hidden preference.

  1. Type about:config into the location bar and press enter
  2. Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
  3. Locate the preference keyword.URL, right-click on it and choose Reset - this will revert it to the Google search

If it still performs a Yahoo search, you will have an add-on that is causing this. Check for any Yahoo add-ons and uninstall or disable them. The Freeze NetAssistant add-on also causes searches to go to Yahoo, if you have that one uninstall it. The following link can help identifying an add-on that is causing this - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
