how do i get firefox windows to show as discrete icons on windows 8 task bar
On my windows xp computers each firefox window is displayed as a discrete icon on the task bar, enabling me to jump quickly from one to another just with one click. On my windows 8 computer they display as like a deck of cards, and to change from one to another, one has to hover the mouse over the stack until a preview appears, then move the mouse to the correct one, then click it on. This is annoying and giving me RSI of the wrist. Is there a way to get the icons to display as they do on XP. Oh, and Mozilla, can you please fore the person responsible for making these bad changes, of which this is just one example.

I'm really sorry, but you're blaming the wrong guys. Windows 8's interface is just designed that way. If you'll notice, for example: you can't have multiple Microsoft PowerPoint icons, just a "deck of cards".
Mozilla can't just come in and mess with the OS, so the "deck of cards" is about the best they can do.
However, I can recommend a little trick that'll make life just a bit easier.
Instead of hovering your cursor over the Firefox icon on the taskbar, click it. The preview will display immediately. After doing this, you actually have more options:
- Use the mouse to select the desired window.
- Use the arrow keys to select the desired window.
Cool! It won't be the same as Windows XP, but at least you can have the peace-of-mind that support for your OS won't be discontinued in the near future.
Thanks for the reply, even if it doesn't really solve the problem.
Yes, sorry; it's impossible to solve this problem without making OS-side changes.
