FF26.0, Win7. Hardware acceleration is off.

I uninstalled MS Office, and then all Youtube videos began to play flawlessly on FF. Reinstalled MS Office and Youtube continually crashes immediately after start up.

I tried deactivating all MS add-ons through Network Sharing » Internet Options » Internet Properties » Programs » Manage Add-ons , but that had no effect.

Has anyone come across this scenario? Better still, would anyone know where to look in Win7 to undo MS's strangle hold on FF?

Hello opi1935, did you reboot the system after you deactivate MS add-ons ?

thank you

Yes, I did a full shut down. Still no YT.

The question is, what could it be that MS installs with the Office application, that would interfere with FF and YT?

BTW, YT functions flawlessly in IE, probably no surprise there.

A possible cause is the MS Office is installing or using older (possibly outdated) versions of some shared Library files. Windows can only manage one version of of libraries, so you get problems when different programs use different versions.

Maybe use process explorer to see what get loaded.

The MS Sysinternals (MSS) showed no use of Flash, when MS Explorer was displaying Youtube videos; whereas in Firefox, Flash was active per MSS, while attempting to view Youtube.

While viewing Yahoo videos in Firefox, MSS showed Flash as active, and the videos ran flawlessly.

Still at a loss with FF and Youtube.
