This is my second go at asking this question. Apologies if you answered the first - it seems to have disappeared.

Email into my @talktalk.net account stopped on 3 June (I normally get at least one email every day, often more as this is my main account). I can send mail from this account, but not receive.

Similarly, my second account @tiscali.co.uk [TalkTalk took over Tiscali some time ago] will receive mail, but not send.

Any help will be much appreciated.

TalkTalk troubleshooting has so far not succeeded - they think it's a Thunderbird problem.

Thanks in advance Alan

Chosen solution

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/user/Alanjo indicates this is your only posting - so if you posted previously it was done under a different name. And a search of postings in the past month about TalkTalk that might be from you comes up zero.

Start *Windows'* safe mode with networking enabled - win10 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/change-startup-settings-in-windows-10 Still In Windows safe mode, start thunderbird in safe mode - https://support.mozilla.org/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird

Does problem go away?

I hope this will work. First problem though - how do I start Windows 10 in safe mode?

I got as far as Thunderbird in safe mode (where I am now), but I have a new problem!

I enter "Get messages" for the email address I want. It then says "[email address] connected to pop3.talktalk.net" and asks for a password. I have never needed to enter a password before to access this email account, so I don't have one. How do I set one up?

There MUST be a password or authorization token. You'll need to get it from talktalk

Thank you. I just assumed it was a Thunderbird password, but it was not.
