I am on an M1 Mac, macOS Sonoma 14.7.1, Thunderbird version 128.7.0esr.

Here's an example of what is happening. What should look like this: On Wed, Jan 29, 2025 at 3:13 PM Julie wrote

Ends up looking like this: On Wed, Jan 2—, 2025 at 313▯PM Julie wrote

Both 'Fonts for:' Latin and 'Fonts for:' Other Writing Systems are all set to the defaults.

Affected characters:

U+0039 : DIGIT NINE U+003A : COLON U+202F : NARROW NO-BREAK SPACE [NNBSP]

The issue persists in Troubleshoot mode.

Anyone have any ideas here?

Update: issue can be fixed by going into Settings > Fonts & Colors > Advanced

change these settings: Fonts for: Other Writing Systems > set Sans-serif font to Helvetica Fonts for: Latin > set Sans-serif font to Helvetica

the issue seems to have been stemming from using the default font, Lucida Grande

The issue will stem from using an ansi/ascii font not a unicode font.
