Hi marj909

That is a hang in the Flash plugin.

You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:

  • disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

I had my reply to the above but it posted in the wrong place. So I will sum it up... Why the hell would you people put a BETA as a MAIN DOWNLOAD? At least warn people with a caveat that it may crash. Here I am trying to figure out what the heck is wrong. Why is Firefox CONSTANTLY CRASHING? And the answer is simple. Stupidity.... and not on my part. Please put some kind of heads up that people are downloading and installing a BETA version, not a STABLE version. Save yourselves and all of us a lot of headaches.

Hi beachgeek11, since this is your first post on this forum, it's unclear what problems you are having or how they relate to krazything's question.

Could you start a new question indicating your Firefox version, your OS, and what you've tried so far? Please review the steps in the below article on how to get the most help possible on crashes.

Thanks for your reply but NO I CAN'T.

I am busy trying to find an earlier version of Firefox to make my laptop stable again. The fact that the idiots at Mozilla are letting the masses install BETA software is making my skin crawl. I swear this experience ALMOST makes me want to use IE again. Absolutely Disgusting.

So let me understand.... you want me to sit and troubleshoot for Mozilla? I appreciate everyone's efforts that are involved in the creation of this software, but THEY must understand that there's a time and a place, and right now, its NOT THE TIME OR THE PLACE. I have work to do, and unfortunately, this P.O.S. is hindering that...

Hi beachgeek11, you probably do not have the beta release. If you check this dialog it will tell you if you have the beta release:

Help > About Firefox

To get the current Firefox 22 final release, you can go to this page:

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/fx/#desktop

To get the previous final release, Firefox 21, you can go to this page:

Install an older version of Firefox

Hi beachgeek11, I think I see the source of the confusion. When this thread was started way back in May, Firefox 22 was in beta. However, the final version was released on June 25th.

Volunteers here are happy to help with troubleshooting on whatever is ailing your Firefox. However, as noted above, it's beneficial to have the information requested by the form for starting a new thread.

Hi krazything, since this thread is really long, allow me to summarize the earlier posts:

  • You get Firefox crashing on YouTube, but not other sites
    (answer #438503)
  • Firefox does not crash when you visit YouTube in Safe Mode
    (answer #438502)
  • You already disabled hardware acceleration of graphics (1) in Firefox options and (2) in Flash player options
    (answer #446749)

Based on this pattern, an extension conflict seem the most likely culprit. If you have any extensions that interact with videos, make sure they are as up-to-date as possible. If you have any extensions that interact with, filter, or block site elements (e.g., ad blockers), try making an exception to youtube.com and ytimg.com.

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > "gear" icon > "Check for Updates"

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category (see individual Options buttons)

still crashing after removing adblocker ~

Hi krazything, what if you disable all the extensions that you won't need for the next 8 hours. Does that allow Youtube to work?
