Search doesn't work in Thunderbird
I'm using thunderbird-38.7.1 on FreeBSD-10, since some point in time, after upgrade from previous Thunderbird version, I've discovered that "search" in Thunderbird doesn't work. I enter search word/phrase in the top right search box of main program window, press enter, then new tab opens. But it's totally empty, with no signs of any activity or controls in it. On FreeBSD forums there is report that it's behavior is seen also in Debian. (https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/55716/)

What kind of search? Quick Filter or Global Search? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/quick-filter-toolbar https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/global-search
Well, for this Thunderbird version I have only one search box on the main page. Attaching screenshots to be understood better. Previously (and now my expected) I had the results tab similar to ones shown on the Global search page mentioned here.

It is my understanding that there is no official Thunderbird build from Mozilla for FreeBSD. Where do you get your Thunderbird binary from?
I compile it from sources using FreeBSD ports system.
I'm not familiar with the FreeBSD ports system, so I'm afraid I can't help with that. Perhaps you can contact the FreeBSD folks for help?
In any case, Global Search works just fine here with the Linux version of Thunderbird 38.7.1 from Mozilla. So this isn't a general problem.
