I just recently started having trouble with my bookmarks. I was attempting to try and improve my computer, and apparently I screwed something up. My bookmarks are now all screwed up. First, when I click on the bookmark menu tab, it takes quite a while before my bookmarks come up, and that has not happened before. Secondly, when those bookmarks come up, and I have plenty, about 250 of them, they just keep going on for ever, and repeating them self's. In other words, the bookmark lists repeat them self's, over and over. I haven't seen that before. Also, now my bookmarks are not in the proper order I had them categorized in. They are now sort of helter- skelter, all scrambled up. What happened? And, more importantly, how do I correctly the problem? Can someone help? Thank you.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.

If the Places Maintenance extension can't repair the places.sqlite database then remove all places.sqlite file(s) in the Firefox profile folder to make Firefox rebuild the places.sqlite database from the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

Hi cor-el, thank you for your reply. Didn't have any success. Little confused as to what places.sqlite was to accomplish. It was confusing with it's seemingly endless instructions, and still no help. The "Places Maintenance extension" I ran, but again did no good. The profile folder solution also didn't yield any help. When I try and go through the steps, I just don't see the steps I'm suppose to see, or be able to click on the next instruction the way I'm suppose to. Very confusing. I found it Interesting when I access my bookmarks with the sidebar bookmark procedure, I get all my bookmarks in there correct order, and they stop when they are suppose to as opposed to just keep running on like they do other wise? Again, my bookmarks are all screwed up when accessing them from the menu tab and they also just keep running on forever, over and over. But they will appear correctly in the sidebar bookmark format. Why are my bookmarks correct in the sidebar menu, and so screwed up in the "normal bookmarks menu tab" when I access them from the menu tab bookmarks? Frankly doesn't make sense how they are right in one area and wrong in another? Any suggestions? Thank you

What exactly did you do when you did: I was attempting to try and improve my computer?

Hi cor-el, thanks again for your reply. I was able to find a simpler solution to my problem. I just keep experimenting and found the bookmarks library. After there entered the import export link and then restore. Once there, I just simply restored my bookmarks to a few days ago. Don't know why I didn't think of that earlier. I was a simple way to solve my problem, without going thru a lot of steps. Now all my bookmarks are the way they should be again. All in order, no running on, and no bookmark lock up's. Thank you nonetheless, cor-el for your reply and concern.
