It's a small thing in this day and age of hacking and compromised web sites, why does the brain trust behind thunderbird make is SO HARD to change a password. NO instructions in help, search the simple terms "change email password" and NOTHING comes up. All I want to do is change my password on an email account. I can log into the email website with firefox but thunderbird cannot retrieve emails from that account, why? I am unable to change the password in thunderbird.

Passwords can only be changed through the mail provider. Once you have a new password and confirm it by logging into the account in webmail, open Preferences(Options)/Privacy & Security, Saved Passwords, remove the old password, restart TB, enter the new password when prompted.
