Cannot send mail
My 25-year email server has just been bought out. I am able to receive mail, but cannot send. I have verified with the new server company that my account settings & ports are correct, but they can offer no further help.
When I try to send, I get the following message box: "Sending of the message failed. Unable to communicate securely with peer: requested domain name does not match the server’s certificate. The configuration related to smtp.ccvn.com must be corrected." I have no idea how to do this, and neither does my new server company.
When I close that box, I get another message box, entitled "Add Security Exception." However, when I type in my new server address, the box says it is valid, and no need for an exception. Can someone Please help me??? I have spent about 10 hours on this, with no progress.

Can someone please help me with this?

Typically you can only add an exception as is, but not modify it in any way. So I have no idea where you can type something. Please post a screenshot to illustrate what you're doing. Also, please post a screenshot with the original error message. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/how-do-i-create-screenshot-my-problem

Thanks for your reply, christ1. It's really the first message box after I try to send, that I don't understand. I cannot do a screenshot without it showing my name and email address, but I have accurately quoted the message in my post.

It basically says that the domain name of the server you're trying to connect to is not the same as in the certificate the server returns to Thunderbird when negotiating the secure connection. Normally this is a reason to be concerned. Possibly in your case the email provider made a mistake and installed a cert with that problem. So your best bet is to contact your email provider. You should be able to create an exception if you're confident you're connecting to the right server though.
