I was given a message that my version of the Mac would no longer support Firefox and protesct it from corruption so I ordered a DVD of Mac OS X Snow Leopard to install. After that I could no longer open pdfs with Firefox. Oh darn!

Many Mac users have chosen to disable the Adobe Acrobat plugin and view PDFs in Apple's Preview application (or other external viewer). To try that, you can use this page:

Tools > Add-ons > Plugins category
