Mr. Victor,

I am not very tech savy but I believe I am using POP not IMAP. I can delete all other folders except the file folders that have a duplicate file. Duplicate file folder is not created by me, in fact if I try to make a duplicate file folder that already exists, Thunderbird will tell me that file already exists; change name.

Concerning the duplicate file folders (all are empty) I have three problems:

While in Thunderbird it will let me delete one of the file folders but I have to empty trash bin before I can delete the second file folder, however, when I turn my computer on the next time and go to Thunderbird the files folders are back.

When I click on properties of the duplicate file folders, one of the duplicate files has a default character Encoding of "Arabic ISO 8859-6" I have tried to change it to the "Western (ISO-8859-1)" which is what all the other file folders show but it does not help in resolving the problem.

Also when I open the properties option on the file folder, it gives an option to repair file folder which does nothing when clicked on.

I am concerned that there is some short of virus or other problem but McAfee scan shows no problems. Ron

There have been reports of difficulties deleting folders from McAfee users for years now. But I am guessing your folders are local folders, and it has nothing to do with McAfee. What are they called?

Thunderbird has a "Local Folders" built in account that simply can not be deleted. You can elect to use it, but not remove it.

The folders that I cannot delete are subfolders under Thunderbird's "Local Folders" section.

I can delete any of the other file folders that I have created under the "Local Folders" section but NOT the three file folders that keep self replicating after I try to delete them. I originally created ONE of these files and put some e-mails in it. When I turned the computer on the next time, numbers had been added to the end of the Title and there were two of the files and ever time I delete them they come back.

I also have had a long term problem when typing e-mails: I will be typing and the curser will disappear and will not let me type any more. The top of the page shows a message that "Thunderbird is not responding". Then after a few seconds the curser is back and I can start typing again. Really frustrating.

Since there appears not to be a real customer support for Thunderbird, the only way to resolve these issues is to use a different e-mail program and uninstall Thunderbird. I know Thunderbird is free but I would prefer to have a program that works well even if I had to pay for it.

At this time there is no way that I could recommend Thunderbird to others.

Your flogging the wrong horse, contact McAfee tell them your having issues with Thunderbird and they will reconfigure their anti virus. Your not responding is most certainly a McAfee issue. As I would guess is just about everything your having problems with. Until you get McAfee fixed, there is no real way to know for sure.

Just think, You going to the real support for the real product you purchased. There is no way I could recommend McAfee to anyone. But I suppose that is a matter of perspective. I have watched thousands of people come through these forums in the past 18 months since they built their new heuristics engine complaining bitterly about how hard thunderbird is to use all because their choice of Anti virus is not working as advertised.
