Can we be given some control over how frequently Firefox reminds us about available updates?

Sometimes I download/install an update immediately I get the prompt; sometimes it may be a while before I can get round to it; and sometimes I want to skip a particular update altogether. In the latter two cases, the reminder that pops up increasingly rapidly becomes a confounded nuisance (sorry, but it DOES!). Some simple control, by which I could (for example) say how often I want to get reminders, would save considerable wear and tear on my teeth.

Thanks.

Considering that Firefox was released almost 4 months ago, what would you consider the interval for 'prompts' should be?

Thankyou for your response. That's a good point - when you think about it, the longer an update that you've decided to skip remains current, the more aggravating the frequent reminders will become!

The length of the interval depends entirely on your reason for not installing the update immediately. At one extreme, if you're doing something that you need to finish first, it might be only an hour (say). At the other extreme, if you decide to "give this one a miss", it might be a case of "don't ever remind me again about this update" (and only resume reminders when the next update comes along).

I've seen other update reminder pop-ups which have a "remind me again in . . ." button; you click that, and choose from a drop-down list, from which you can select options like an hour, a day, a week, or never.

Although this isn't functionally important, I'd guess that quite a lot of otherwise very grateful users are probably suffering this "nag" in silence!

Your Flash is seriously out of date.

My Flash is now seriously up-to-date. It hasn't made the slightest difference to the problem.

Well, if you're on the internet, you really should update. Some updates may break things, but you could be vulnerable otherwise...

You can check for issues caused by plugins and set all plugins to "Ask to Activate" on the "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins" page (plugins are not affected by Firefox Safe Mode)

Thankyou for all the suggestions, but my "problem" isn't a fault as such, it's simply a suggestion for something to be added to the "Update Available" popup, as per my original query, and elaborated in my post of 8/30/14. My apologies if I haven't expressed myself clearly enough.

SuperSleuther - the risk, of course, is mine. That goes without saying. But even so, a bit of control on the frequency of the "nagging" wouldn't go amiss, would it?

It seems that devs think you have no need for customization, especially not if it is something they feel strongly about.

Updates are the wet dream of any developer and you ignoring it is an affront to them!

How dare you not want all the new features and grand UI designs they envisioned for you ?!

Oh and of course you NEED those updates because they always contain SECURITY FIXES.

I so wish there were developers that would separate security and bug fixes from design and functionality updates...that is my wet dream.
