I accept volunteers are stumped. But at least say that. somehow, when i deleted Google from the search bar list that included 5 search engines at that moment, the entire search BAR vanished forever.

separate and an UNNNNNNNrealted problem, if i CHOOSE to view the official Aurora/Mozilla start page, there is Google for search, and I want on that start page to be Bing not Google. Google is EMbedded in your Mozilla start page.

Finally I did get my own www. address home page to come up when I open up Aurora 1st thing. But that doesn't change the FACT that if I want to look at the Aurora START page guys, it only wants Google search there and not Bing and not DuckDuckGo, it wants Google search.

So like Chrome, Mozilla is marry/paired with Google. not smart guys. Chrome and Explorer won't see my computer or keystrokes in this lifetime. I don't won't use Chrome Explorer or Google. at all.

It's extremely difficult to reconstruct your issue and what you have tried if you keep starting new questions. Please try to continue in the most relevant previous thread. For example:

(1) search bar gone when i deleted google from drop down, unable to retrieve search bar/and unable to replace google on aurora home page- with bing

https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1019451

(2) Firefox keeps dumping My home page and inserting the Google one

Did you make sure that you didn't move the search bar to the Customize palette?

  • "3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize
  • View > Toolbars > Customize

If you set Bing as the default search engine then this search engine should be used on the about:home page and the about:newtab as well.

Corel. now this. AFter a day+ just now, like magic, the search bar is back at the right of the address bar, but wait- it gets dumber. and who the ..... designed this search bar. unreal.

now, it has Twitter too, not hours ago. like all humans want to twitter, they don't.

i went to delete Twitter and before I clicked I read the words "to delete THIS" it did not say "to remove the entire search bar" so all i was doing was deleting the Twitter from my search bar and for english students, Twitter isn't a search engine or at least doesn't mainly do SEARCH, so stop cramming Twitter down throats of people who don't want it simply because the owner of Google says you can make money by forcing Twitter on people's search bar. unreal.

as i click on that selection to delete TWITTER from my search bar, THAT eliminated the search bar from the address bar/ that is EXactly how i lost the search bar before when i attempted to delete Google from the search bar.

i am one day from deleteing Firefox and Aurora and Mozilla from my life and my computer . you need to hire real humans to write software. I won't have Twitter or Google on my search bar and i won't have Twitter or Google or Chrome or Explorer forced on me.

if the click says delete Twitter FROMMMM the search bar that is what that click does, not remove the entire search bar from existence. whoever designed that search bar fire them.

Hi firefoxlousy, unless your Firefox is different than mine, the right-click menu on the drop-down says Remove from Toolbar which is exactly what happens.

Drag the search bar back to its location, expand the drop-down, and use Manage Search Engines to remove unwanted search engines. Job done.

1. in Aurora. 2. nothing to Drag and no, NOT exactly , it does NOT remove Twitter or Google, it ELIMATES the fricnk' entire search box from the planet earth. period. don't argue the point. 3. i read what you did, and it did not do what it says, so the software person screwed up. perioddddddddddddddddddddd.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

firefoxlousy, In the Search bar you should left-click on the icon on left side of Search bar then click on Manage Search Engines then you can select a search engine and Remove.

The Remove from toolbar does not remove a search engine but rather it removes that toolbar item (that you right-clicked on) and puts it into the Customize window.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/search-bar-add-change-manage-search-engines-firefox#w_remove-a-search-engine

The Manage Search Engines is nothing new as it has existed for almost eight years now when Firefox 2.0 was released.

firefoxlousy,

Why are you even messing around with Aurora?

Aurora is an alpha 2 level development build for what will become a Firefox release version after it passes thru a 6 week Beta refinement stage. Also, Aurora updates every day and "stuff" happens - it isn't as consistent or as reliable as the Release version (or Beta) - Aurora is being actively developed or tweaked almost everyday.

After having contributed to other threads that you have started here, and after reviewing your first 14 threads, it is my opinion that you aren't "savvy" enough with computers and computer software to be able add anything to the development process.

Some of your other threads were made using a Release version, and your support issue was about that Release version, which brings a basic question pertaining to using multiple different versions of Firefox on the same PC.

Are you running separate Profiles for each version? And making sure you aren't inadvertently using a "release" Profile with the Aurora version and vice versa?

If you have no idea what I am talking about or you are purposely using the same Profile with both - please stop it. You may be creating your own problems.
