I like to past small images into my text but would like to have text wrap around them and have them anchored with the text.

Double-click on the image that you have inserted into your email to open the Image Properties dialog and click on the Appearance tab. In the combobox labeled "Align Text to Image," you can select how you want text to wrap around the image.

If you insert an image using the Insert->Image command available in the menubar and toolbar in the Compose window, this option will be available before the image is inserted.
