Can't copy calendar events from Windows 7 to Mac Yosemite

I have successfully installed Thunderbird on my new Mac and transferred settings, etc. However, calendar data did not transfer. I have installed holidays on the Mac calendar and now want to add all my other events such as birthdays. I have read the instructions regarding copying calendar events, but they start by telling me to right click the left pane on the old PC calendar to copy. The problem is the old PC will only run in Safe mode and nothing happens when right clicking the left pane. No list of options appears. Is there any other way to transfer the calendar events? Is there a file buried somewhere in Program Files or elsewhere that I can send to the Mac and install in the Mac calendar?

Move your profile from one machine to the next instead of trying to piecemeal stuff that only sort of works.

I have already done that. Moving the profile folder did not copy the calendar.
