A solução para tratar lentidão no Thunderbird segue o mesmo procedimento que travamento no mesmo. Segue o link https://support.mozilla.org/pt-BR/kb/relatorio-de-travamento-do-thunderbird para esta e outras soluções semelhantes.

Uma outra solução é desinstalar e instalar novamente!
