Why do I need to register a credit card and give my CVV number to use Firefox on my iPad?

I use Firefox on both a Windows based Laptop and a Mac Mini, and am very happy with the way it works, so want to install it onto my iPad, but it won't let me do so without updating my credit card details and CVV number, which I do not see any need for and am unwilling to do so for no valid reason. Can someone please advise me why this is required - or perhaps give me a "work-around."

Hi Andrew, many thanks for your response. I've been into an Apple Store today, because I got exactly the same message when I tried to download their FREE Apple Store App! Initially they were perplexed, but then asked if I was happy NOT to have a credit card registered against my Apple i.d. - which I was. As they scrolled through the message, there was a list of credit card types - i.e. Visa, Mastercard, etc. that you could choose, but there was an option to choose NONE which then removed the message and allowed me to download both the Firefox and Apple Apps with no problem. (The message was coming up because the card I had used to register my Apple i.d. had since expired and been replaced.) Many thanks again for pointing me to Apple, I hope this solution helps others who were wary of inputting their credit card CVV number!

Unfortunately, this is something required by Apple and less on our part. Try contacting Apple to see if they have a workaround for this.
