This computer has not been running since 2014, so i have been updating everything. When i opened the plug-in page everything looked normal, but when i clicked on "check for updates" there were more of my plug-ins like Adobe Flash, Reader & Java. I guess my question is how do i get the plug-ins from the update page over to the plug-in page where i have the option to activate or not if i choose ?

Do you see all plugins on the about:plugins page?

Try to delete the pluginreg.dat file in the Firefox Profile Folder and maybe addons.sqlite as well to reset the plugin registry databases.

See Re-initializing the plugins database:

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

I deleted pluginreg.dat file and yes i see all the plugins on the about:plugins page but i still don't see all of them on the add-ons plug-ins page where i can activate or deactivate if need be. Thanks for your help.

You did remove the pluginreg.dat file while Firefox was closed?

Anyway if you see all plugins on the about:plugins page then that would indicate that the pluginreg.dat is OK.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Still have same problem. I guess i will have to remove and reinstall them to get them to move over to the ad-ons page and see if that works Thanks for your help.
