When I want to do something--such as click on a link, open a new tab, etc--it performs the action multiple times. For example, instead of opening one new tab, it will open four of them in rapid succession. This has happened since a recent Firefox update 6 weeks ago.

Do you have another mouse available to temporarily swap out to make sure that your mouse isn't at fault?

The button contacts in the average mouse will wear over time and the 'spring' can get weak, sometimes causing the "connection" to "break" intermittently or "bounce", and send multiple signals to the PC - like the button was clicked repeatedly.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

It really did not solve the problem. I guess you could call it a computer "stutter" that happened at the same time as an upgrade to MF about 6 weeks ago. Tabs, links, etc., open up multiple times and if I try to click an arrow into an empty box that also takes extra "work".

I recognized the symptoms, I manage to wear out the left-button in 12 to 18 months quite regularly.
