Does Crash Reporter automatically appear when FF crashes?

I recently was given a message by FF Nightly a few days ago, saying that there were 3 crashes that had not been submitted. I immediately clicked on the option to submit them. I then went into about:crashes and lo and behold, saw those three crashes at the top. The fact is, I had no idea that FF had crashed those times. I thought every time FF crashed, I got the FF crash reporter to pop up and ask if I wanted to submit a crash. Of course I do submit the report; its just that I don't recall seeing the FF crash reporter appear and ask if I wanted to submit the reports. I could understand my missing one of these instances b/c I was too busy/distracted, but not 3.

Does FF open up the crash reporter automatically every time FF crashes? Is there an about:config setting where I can get it to do this? I really would like to send MoCo my browser feedback (the only reason why I'm on Nightly), but I just don't check about:crashes all that often, so I wouldn't know if there is a report to send.

If you suspect a crash or hang on exit, but you do not get the crash reporter then try yo restart Firefox and check the about:crashes page to see if there are pending crashes. Older Firefox versions could also crash (hang on exit) if you used "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear the history.

Firefox should give you the option to file the crash report. But sometimes, it doesn't.

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers/letters, click it to submit them.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box below and paste them in.

Some of your crash reports weren’t sent to the Mozilla Servers.

Did you want me to open them up and then hit Ctrl+A, or is the above info what you wanted?

In that case, is there an about:config setting I can modify, so that FF lets me know within 24 or 12 hours, if there is an unsubmitted crash report?

I am on Nightly as a response to Nicholas Nethercote's recent blog post askign for more Nightly users. A point he made was that crash reports on Nightly are helpful because it gives FF devs much less info to have to wade through (than looking at resolving a bug in FDE, which has had weeks and weeks of crash reports to be interpreted).

Not at this time, but a bug report was filed on this issue.

OK thanks for your help here. I just put a bookmark to about:crashes on my toolbar, so I can remember to view that page every so often.

Are these the numbers you want?

At any rate, as soon as I clicked on the links in my about:crashes page, when I would go back to view another one, the previous one then had bp at the beginning, so you might find that they in fact have been reported/submitted.

The crash reports are from alpha 2 developer edition versions (release channel: aurora) and not from the Nightly build and are also not recent.

The reports may not have been send if you hadn't (re)started Firefox when a crash occurred.

Yeah, I was on FDE before. Fred asked for the reports so I submitted them.

OK--so you are saying that if I restart FF after a crash, FF will be more likely to send a report?
