Thunderbird fails to install minimize to tray plugins

1. I choose to install minimizetotray_revived-1.3.2-fx+sm+tb-linux.xpi or minimize_on_start_and_close-1.3.2-fx+tb+sb.xpi . 2. Error message is: X could not be installed because it is not compatible with Thunderbird 38.8.0.

Result is I am unable to find any way to minimize the program to the tray.

Both extensions showed up when I searched for the word "minimize" in the addon menu. I should not be showed extensions which are incompatible. I then have to download the extensions manually because the developers have ensured I have a second-class experience because my computer lacks a real time clock. In other words, automatic extension downloads do not function as a result of SSL errors induced by a lack of correct computer time. There is no way to choose "I don't give a damn, continue". [B]Incredibly, there are at least 5 non-functional UI "link" elements involved in this process as well!!/B

I am forced to manually download each extension. This manual download process was trouble free for the extensions "compact header" and "newscrollbars" so I know it works.

My questions is are there any compatible minimize to tray plugins available for Thunderbird 38.8.0 and where can I download working versions?

edit: Firetray addon worked once I searched it out. Even the manual download link listed it as "discontinued" but once I found the real download link on Mozilla's addon site it installs and works perfectly.

Ok this is the second time I have read this.

What sort of computer built in the last 30 years has no clock? Even my first X86 with dos 1 or 2 and a genuine Winchester 10mb hard disk had a clock, you just had to set it each time the machine started because there was no battery backup. Not that battery backup is important when you can synchronize with a time server on connection to the internet.

Given you are blaming the clock for your second class experience I think it is important you explain exactly what sort of device you are using. Just because it will run Linux does not mean it is meant to run Thunderbird.

As for minimize to tray in Debian I suggest you read the following http://kb.mozillazine.org/Minimize_to_system_tray_(Thunderbird)
