I have to log in twice per session. once to get my messages and then again when I send a message even though I never logged out of server?

I open Thunderbird I enter my password Download messages Click on write New message window opens Write my message Hit send Get a box that asks for my password again type in password Message sends I never had to type in my password until recently. Can I correct this so I only have to log in once?

more options

there is a save option in the password dialog. Then you do not need to type it at all.

And Yes, being asked to sign in to receive and again to send it normal. Usually the incoming server and the outgoing server are not the same machine.
