I'm using Windows 7 and Firefox.

I replaced my hard drive and was unable to find out how to locate and import my old bookmarks. (Brainfarts due to the stress of system failure when work is due). I ended up creating a whole new set of bookmarks, but still really need the ones I'd had before, as well.

I've now learned how to back up my current bookmarks, and i've learned how to restore them, but i need to restore them WITHOUT overwriting the current bookmarks. Is it possible to get to those bookmarks in my old hard drive and MERGE them into what i have now, or at least access them so i can manually add them?

Thanks, folks.

Is the old hard drive still running? Merging bookmark files is not very hard, but if you do it wrong you loose it all.

Run Firefox on the old disk drive, accessing the original profile. Once the bookmarks are loaded, follow these directions;

To open the Bookmarks Manager, press the Alt or F10 key bring up the tool bar, and select Bookmarks. Hot key is <Control>(Mac=<Command>) <Shift> B.

Once the window is open, at the top of the page, press the button labeled Import and Backup. Select Export Bookmarks To HTML, and follow the prompts and save it to a HTML file. Copy the file to another computer. Repeat the instructions above, BUT select Import Bookmarks From HTML,

Note: following these instructions will merge the two files. However, you may end up with duplicate entries/folders.
