I didn't see anything at http://www.dailymail.co.uk/ushome/index.html

Next time, mouse on top of the icon. What does it say?

Could it be part of the icon?

Thanks for your reply however the red dot is not part of the icon. It is superimposed on top of the icon. Also, it doesn't always happen. I suggest that you go onto the Daily Mail site and see if you get it! Please also see screenshot. Regards James Hulin

I hovered over the icon and got: Home| Daily Mail Online http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/index.html I have deleted the bookmark, deleted the page from the browser, typed "Daily Mail" into Google. When the page loaded, I created a new bookmark. The red dot is no longer present. (screenshot) So I am happy but I still don't know what the red dot signified. It doesn't matter anymore! Anyway, many thanks for your trouble. James Hulin
