I've been using beta versions of Firefox on my iMac for ages. It always updated automatically. Now all of a sudden, it doesn't do so anymore. After manually downloading the latest version (56.0b2), the language in/of all the menus is English instead of Dutch. And when I go to preferences, I only get 4 options, instead of the 8 option Firefox 55.0.1 shows me on my Macbook Air. Which BTW uses the Dutch language as it should (for all the menus). How do I tell 56.0b2 that it should use the Dutch language on my iMac and how do I get those other 4 options back?

As automatic updates from 54 to 55 Release have been throttled due to some issues for some users, I believe the same thing happening for Beta releases causing 55 Beta not to automatically upgrade to 56 Beta yet. You could of course download and install 56 Beta manually, but make sure to do so from here for other locales, not from e.g. FileHippo, as such websites may be susceptible to hijacked versions, and some are known to have issues with localized versions.

The Mozilla website should offer you a safe download, and I am not aware of localization issues in Dutch or other localized versions. My suggestion however would be to stick with 55 Beta for now as long as the issue is not solved and wait for the automatic upgrade, which may be around tomorrow. Remember that stability is worth more than running bleeding edge software that may break, which goes for Beta as well as Release versions.

The only way to get the 4 "missing" options back is to stick with that version too, since they simply got removed due to a preference reorganization that should be complete in 57. That doesn’t mean some options are gone, they are simply reorganized.
