whether imported from file or from Edge or created from a web page, FF will not show any bookmarks. You may get a notice that the action was completed but no bookmarks ever appears. They were saved as an HTML file and are visible on Edge but in FF all you get is a blank page

Can you open this HTML file in a Firefox tab?

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.

Are you trying to merge the new into the old, or are you trying to open the file in a Firefox window?

Try opening the file using a 'Word' type program.

Reinstalled Windows, Installed FF version 50 which was way back before issue. FF updated itself to 54. Brought bookmarks from HTML file and they appeared. Bookmarks installed on toolbar. Problem appears solved but this AM when FF was booted it got stuck and had to be stopped twice through Task Manager. What it was trying to do is unknown.

I place a lot of the blame for these and other issues on Windows 10. I have never had the issues I have had until this OS. I regard win10 as another in the line of MS failures so loaded with bugs that it needs to be withdrawn. XP as old as it is was stable and never caused a problem. They should have built on that instead of all this new crazy crap that no one will ever use.

Created HTML file just before all the problems occurred. Did a manual update to Version 55 which may have caused the problems as FF did not to an automatic upgrade from 54. Even with re installation of Win10 I noticed that an upgrade still hasn't been done. Why its sitting there is unknown but I won't do a manual upgrade again.

To answer your question further, the HTML file opens fine in all cases it just wouldn't appear when being imported into FF. So far so good but time will tell as with the getting stuck issue just mentioned in other post.

Go to that message, and use the Undo link to its right.

Note: V55 has been giving users problems. Reinstall v54.

If you still want to downgrade, look under; I still want to downgrade. Click the Directory of other versions and languages link. Look for the directory of the version that you want. But, remember that old versions may have security issues.

Can't get back to original message. Undo link you mentioned is not available. The setup of this forum is very confusing with no clear way to navigate.

It sounds as though your problem is solved. About this forum, you can use the username link at the top of the page to go to "My Questions" as a way to see your threads. Not sure if that helps.

That issue was solved in that I did get the HTML file loaded. But as you can see from my more recent post of today FF has developed a series of cascading issues chief of which is that the browser locks up either on boot up, a download or on a webpage. Since they apparently are not going to withdraw V54 or V55 as unstable I have decided to begin the move to another browser.
