Firefox does not go to homebase
For the last two weeks when I shut down Firefox, sometimes it does not close the active screen/pages. When I start FireFox again I get the embarrassing message that it did not shut down properly. It asks me to indicate if I want to reopen the given links or start anew. I have checked the home page in both FireFos and Internet options. I have updated FireFox. I have refreshed FireFox to no avail. What should I do? Thank you for your advice and help. Firefox version 56.0, Windows 8.1 Mike

How are you closing Firefox? Do you use; Menu > File > Exit.

Thank you for the reply Fred. You have confused me. I never see a Menu option when I am in a page using Firefox. I simply use the Red Box X in the upper right hand corner. I have always (at least for the last five years) closed Firefox in that manner. The only things I see in the menu bar are (from left to right) are the Back Arrow, Current URL box, Search Box, Star, Bookmarks, Display Download Progress, Go To Home Page, Save to Pocket, Screenshots, and Options grid. I do have the Menu>File>Exit in programs such as Word, Excel, etc., but not when I am accessing a URL. Again thank you for the response.
Some users have had issues when using the red X to close Firefox.
Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the toolbar, then Menu > File > Exit.
I use; https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/quit-firefox/ Quit Firefox 0.2.1-signed.1-signed
Quit Firefox provides statusbar and Toolbar buttons to quickly shut down Firefox. It is especially useful for laptop users.
