Hello. Sometimes when I try to bring a browser up, a prompt comes up informing me that Firefox wants to make changes to my hard drive and asks if I want to allow it or decline. I've declined it and the browser comes up fine, I just want to know if this is something legit and I should allow the changes to be made? Thank you, Amy

Hi, that sounds like Windows User Account Control which often asks for permission before installing a program or update. However in Firefox you wouldn't normally see it, as the Mozilla Maintenance Service overrides it. You should see it in your Programs next to Mozilla Firefox, but it's possible that it has been turned off in the Firefox Options (General > Firefox updates - Allow Firefox to - Use a background service to install updates), or it hasn't installed properly. It may therefore be simply asking if it's OK to install a Firefox update, in which case you should allow it. Assuming it's genuine, it should look something like this, although it varies slightly depending on which Windows version you are using - What is the Mozilla Maintenance Service?
